Enforcement of Physical Health Protections for Front-line Workers
The Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative (BARHII) and the National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) invites public health officials and agencies, labor and worker organizations, employers, and occupational health organizations to attend: Enforcement of Physical Health Protections for Front-line Workers, on Wednesday September 2nd from 10-11:30 AM (Pacific), 1:00- 2:30 PM (Eastern).

As more industries re-open (and some have never closed) many workers risk exposure to COVID-19, with risks concentrated in Black and Brown workers, and workers with little power in the workplace, such as undocumented workers. This webinar will explore how we ensure that all workers have access to the protective gear and procedures they need to remain safe and healthy, especially ones working in heavily impacted industries.
Presenters will discuss equitable enforcement of public health orders, workers’ rights, and employer responsibilities during this time. This webinar will explore how re-opening of businesses can occur most safely. Attendees will engage with national, state, and local leaders in health, labor, and racial equity to discuss current data, impacts on communities most at risk for COVID-19, and equity-focused strategies for workers and employers. The webinar will be interactive and will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask the speakers questions.

Following this webinar, attendees will be able to:
• Describe the impact of COVID-19 (and public health responses) on worker health in a variety of communities and industries
• Identify strategies to protect workers who must return to the workplace including:
o Increase public health department capacity to educate employer community on worker protections
o Explore the role of health officers in policy setting
