Cardiovascular Health CoP: Community Health Workers - Strengthening the COVID-19 Public Health Response
NACCHO, in partnership with the CDC’s Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, hosts the Cardiovascular Health Community of Practice. Representatives from the CDC will discuss the roles and skills of Community Health Workers with special emphasis on the response to COVID-19 in priority populations. Community Health Workers are a valuable workforce who, for several decades, have effectively been improving the health of priority populations by building connections among communities, health care systems, and social services. Moreover, they have been identified as essential workers for public health and community well-being during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Describe Community Health Workers as frontline public health workers for priority populations and provide examples of their roles and skills that have implications for addressing COVID-19.
2. Explain strategies to leverage Community Health Workers roles and skills and their connections among communities, health care systems, and social services.
3. Understand available bi-lingual (i.e., English and Spanish) messages, tools, and other COVID-19-related resources that Community Health Workers may use to inform priority populations.
