CDC cannot make decisions for jurisdictions about whether or not to open. We can provide prevention guidance when a pool is decided to be open. State and local health officials will make the decision to open public venues.

COVID-19 is not considered a water-borne disease, and is typically transmitted person-to-person. Properly maintained (potable) municipal water sources should not contain viruses, and can be considered safe for consumption, washing, and pool use..
